The fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was concluded on Tuesday as Karachi Kings lifted their maiden PSL title after beating Lahore Qalandars in the big final. There were some terrific performances throughout the tournament and it was hard for the 4-member independent jury to select the team of HBL PSL 2020.

The jury included the former captain and commentator Ramiz Raja, former Test batsman Bazid Khan, former Women’s Captain Urooj Mumtaz and former cricketer & current PCB Director – High-Performance Nadeem Khan.

The jury has announced a 12-member side and included four overseas players and one player from the emerging category as per the regulations of the tournament. The HBL PSL 2020 team of the tournament includes six players from Lahore Qalandars, three from Karachi Kings and one each from Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.

All-rounder Shadab Khan has been appointed as the skipper of the team and he’s also the sole player from Islamabad United to be included in the squad.

“I feel honored to have been appointed captain of Team of the HBL PSL 2020, which includes some fine performers from one of the most successful events. However, it hurts that we were unable to make it to the playoffs. We gave our best shot, which was clearly not enough, and means we have to come harder and stronger when the sixth edition is played next year,” Shadab said.

Former captain Ramiz Raja also added that it was a hard task to compile the list of players and arrange them in a balanced playing XI according to their playing roles.

“Selecting 12 top performers from a rich list of outstanding performers was a challenge for the entire panel. We have picked a performance-based and balanced side that can compete against any HBL PSL 2020 franchise cricket side in any conditions,” Raja said.
