The much-anticipated Grand Finale of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition V between arch-rivals Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars failed to live up to its expectations and hype as the homeside triumphed over the visitors in what eventually became a one-sided encounter.

The architect of victory for Karachi Kings was Pakistan captain Babar Azam who mustered the chase of 135 with some lovely and signature cover drives. Azam stood till the end and remained not out on 63* before his captain Imad Wasim finished things off with a classic off drive.

However, it was Babar’s herculean effort on a tricky surface that rescued the shaky ship of Karachi Kings and caught the attention of the world-known commentators and former cricketers such as Ian Bishop and Nasser Hossain.

The former English captain tweeted that Babar seems to be batting on a different pitch compared to everyone else.

“I see Babar Azam is batting on a different pitch to everyone else, Class,” said Nasser.

The former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop was also left completely speechless by the masterful innings of Babar Azam. The stylish right-hander received the player of the tournament award along with the man of the match award as well.

He scored 473 runs in the fifth edition of the PSL and guided Karachi to their maiden PSL title over the resolute Qalandars who couldn’t put up a decent total while batting first.
